I really enjoyed this event and seeing how Fisher Investments supports their LGBTQ+ employees, and how some of these employees overcame the challenges within their careers. I thought it was interesting to hear how Fisher keeps itself aware of their consumers and how though it is an obstacle, it is also an opportunity to learn about people and how we are changing.
I also enjoyed hearing Fisher’s thoughts on inclusivity and how some employees have experienced this inclusion within the company. One employee named Madison went through transitioning from a cis woman to a trans man and spoke about his experience with how supportive and accepting his co-workers were and how they never questioned his pronouns and his identity. His co-workers even invited him to drinks to try and understand and were genuinely curious about his identity and his well-being.
It was also comforting to hear that they have affinity groups within the company and how people in marginalized communities and allies within the company come together and share their experiences. I think that the community that is built into the Fisher company allows there to be a stronger team environment and how employees’ needs can best be met.
